2.2 Thermostat
« on: 19 September 2008, 21:38:13 »

Where is it? Is it directly behind the block, underneath the coil pack connector, near the brass temp sender/reader?

Could hardly get the engine temp above 80 today... on a gentle cruise to work its staying at 75  :o

MPG is good, got 31 out of the last tank, but still seams to run rather cool.

If it's in the same place as the 2.0, it's at the engine end of the radiator top hose.

Engine does not get enough time to get warm really, i am almost a 3rd of the way there before its up to temp.

I went the M40 way back, again temp was sitting slightly above 80. Only when driven fairly hard will the engine temp go to 85.

Going to the dealer tomorrow anyway, can't see where else it would be on the 4pots?

Agree with Jaime, sounds that way.

Look at where the rad top hose joins the engine - this is the stat housing.

It's not at the back - it's on the passenger side of the cylinder head, held with 2 bolts...
