Anyone know the symtems of aleaking ERG valve?

THE eml is not on(it does work) but there is a sound when driving which at first i thought was the exhaust manifold gasket blowing but it is not.

If you rev the engine from under the bonnet there is a tracter like sound from the plenum chamber at the o/s and a poping when the revs are let off.
performance seems ok,however i have nothing to compare it with as i have had the car only a week.
Thinking about it though the acceleration is not what i wouls expect from a 2.5 V6

Usually flags a code, you could try cleaning the breathers instead and see if there is a difference.
