Reversing lights
« on: 24 October 2008, 15:57:32 »

I cant seem to get my reversing lights to come on. I've checked bulbs, fuse 15 (fuse 10 not there ) Manual box). I've even put in a brand new reversing light switch in the gearbox. They still dont light up.
Any idea's?????

There is a switch attached to the gear box which seems to have gone.
Not sure where but you should be able to spot it, not many things attached with a cable to a manual gear box.  ;)

Silly thought but, have you tried linking into the reversing lights in the boot from the fog lights to see if they actually work?? Would work backwards from there. Hopefully you'll have a multimeter which helps enormously.

Try the wiring close to the G/box switch, mine had rotted inside the sheath, easy fix :y :y

Sorted it.... It was the wiring loom that comes from the nearside wing up into the boot lid (every time you open and close the boot lid this loom bends in the same place) some of the protective sheath had worn away exposing the wires, One of the wires (white with a black stripe) had snapped. Cleaned up the ends, soldered them and used a roll of tape to re-cover the loom and Hey Presto i got me lights back.
Thanks for the help guys :y :y
