clicking doors
« on: 08 November 2008, 17:57:47 »

Anyone know how to stop the annoying clicking noise you get when opening/shutting the doors??? I have had 4 Omega's now and they have all done it but this one is driving me mad... :D

Any help and advice will be greatfully recieved.

Answer : The door stay fixing at the door end is about to break, 8mm socket to test if the bolts are torqued and loads of grease, if the metal has split use a 'repair kit' (big washers).

Buy some new nylon bushes, about 60p each, will cure the clicking.

Cheers,

i asked about the bushes at Vx but they said there is'nt any ??? is this an origional part or an aftermarket mod???

End of check strap where it joins to the bodywork is held in place with a bolt, is this correct as i thought it was supposed to be a pin???

I don't think the 'click' is the 'bush', suggest you have a good look at what moves when you open the door !!!

The part number is on here somewhere, vx will only see the check strap or whatever it is, as a whole on their system. So they cant find it without the part number. Its quite amusing to go in and ask for the check strap bush, have them tell you it cant be had and then give then the part number and see the impossible to find part appear on the screen. He he.

Now where's that part number... cant seem to find it. :-)

Odd as it may sound, it is likely to be the bush.  They are 19p each (last time I bought some - but I tend to buy £20 worth at a time, as every car that comes round here suffers, so I end up changing them ;D)

For sake of 40p, get both fronts done asap.  No grease required on bolt.

Many thanks,

I will try the bushes first as they are so cheap it does not really matter if it turns out not to be them, cannot wait to see Vx face when i give them the part number.

I will let you all know what happens...
