2.0 odd engine temparature (thermostat?)
« on: 22 November 2008, 15:51:08 »

My newly accuired 99 2.0 Ecotec seems run at odd temperatures:

Takes ages to warm up,

When stood it warms up to 96 then the revs drop for a split second and it comes down to 92

When fast driving it goes back down to the bottom quarter of the gauge again.

Is this just a stuck open thermostat or is this a peculiarity of the se cars :-/

Sounds like the rad needs a good flush, I think there's a 'How to' in the Maintenance Section.

Then fill it with genuine Vx anti freeze, 50/50 mix.

Regardless - change thermostat, give cooling system a heavy flush with Forte, then 50/50 genuine Vx antifreeze.
See where you go from there.
