Dex 3 mustn't be used for power steering - Dex 2 is for power steering - thats what you were probably supplied against that part nº (93165414)

I have the Dex 3 bottle here with part Nº marked on it (93160372) and Vx invoice!!

My stealer knew Dex3 for autoboxes & Dex2 for power steering :y

Right!!  Thanks Dbug, now I know! :y :y

About 7 litres. You will need to buy 10.

Well that is the number quoted on a Caffyn's Vauxhall invoice for the  Vauxhall ATF.

By the way this dealer also supplied without any trouble, from stock, the door strap bush Part No. 090462823 which other Vx dealers have apparently found difficult to identify.

So I rate my dealer as he has been spot on with all other parts so far supplied. :y

to change atf you will need,
6 or 7 litres of dex3. Mine took 6 others say 7. Bare in mind some oil will remain in the torque converter so you wont get all of it out.
2 gaskits for both large and small sumps. Or the loctite 598 gaskit goo equivalent,or whatever the number is now.
1 filter, or clean the original if its in good nic and return the new one, unused, if they let you as its about £60, or get one cheaper, iirc, from a guy who advertises from the back of straight 6 news, delivered when you john autobahn stormers for the vx trade club card for £20.

Today I ventured out to my garage as I had to go to uni, and I have inspected the bottle of Vx ATF Part No 93165414 as quoted above.

It is for Dexron VI which my dealer stated, after checking the Vx system, was the ONLY ATF suitable for my Omega's power steering.

However I have never noticed any OOF member mentioning this Dexron, only those of the 2 or 3 variety, not my 6! :-? :-?

Any thought please? :D :D :D ;)

You are spot-on Lizzie, at the "beginning of 2006 General Motors activated DEXRON VI, which (they said) will replace all former DEXRON specifications ie II(D), II(E) & III, by the end of 2007" preess release from FUCHS. Therefore your VAUXHALL DEXRON VI can be used instead of DEXRON II and DEXRON III.

That's a relief Richard, so thanks!! :y :y :y
