Dashboard lights

Hi.  I'm looking for a pointer.  When I turn on my side or headlights, my dashboard lights go out (including the information panel).  Any tips on where I should start looking?  Many thanks , Mike

What a plonker.  Yes the dimmer switch was at minimum but I feel no shame, just chuffed that the solution was so easy.
