Wheel play
« on: 30 November 2008, 15:48:01 »

Well just done all filters (apart from fuel, as it looks a pig and its getting dark)  ;D
and new oil

Whilst checking everything over there is bad play in drivers side front wheel doing the 9 and 3 o clock check.

Thats the track rod end needing replacement isnt it?  :-/

Highly likely - yes.

Could also be the steering idler, which is a regular culprit, or even some 'slack' in the steering box.
Whatever, you need to (safely) get under, and examine the entire linkage whilst an assistant rocks the wheel.

Remember to check it with and without the footbrake applied to eliminate any possible wheel bearing play....

Drivers side wont be the idler.....more likely to be a track rod end. But as said, get somebody to apply the brake whilst repeating the test to ensure its not a wheel bearing

There was SLIGHT play when I checked it with the 12 and 6 o clock check and a shocking ammount (to me anyway) with the 9 and 3 oclock  :-/

Only just got back in to check this so sorry for late replies  :y
