  still havent found the water leak that ive got on the back of the engine, Im just wondering if it could be the thermostat housing leaking and running down the V and out the back somewhere ? Any ideas

Heater bypass valve is the usual culprit.

Yep, i agree with Albitz, not to hard to do, just a matter of removing the scuttle drain(there is a link somewhere on here that shows you how to do it). Worth doing though as it can leak onto the DIS pack and knacker that up too...£££

There is someone on e-bay selling new GM HBV's for £16 inc postage, cost about £35 From main stealers so not bad.

Could well be. But as said hbv is most common and is best place to start. Right at the back behind plenum. If not, then yes, your into the v of the engine.

 The motor sits at a slight angle so it seems to run back mostly and down over the bell housing, unfortunately to the same place the hbv leeks to. Remove plenum and inlet manifold. From front to back you have the stat housing, oil cooler cover plate, coolent bridge.

 If you see a load of roughly coolent coloured lime scale along the valley then your in the right area, to diagnose before you start this "may" be visible with a small torch by looking under plenum between the 2 plastic inlets to throttle body and by the egr if you have one fitted(you do). Hth
