Possible fuel pump problem
« on: 17 January 2009, 15:55:45 »

Heya, tried searching the forums for answers to my post but didn`t find any. So here goes:

Was driving to work yesterday when i stopped at a gas station to get some breakfeast. Stopped the car, got my food, came out again and tried to start my car, but no luck.

When i tried to start it, it was barely starting, not going over 1000rpm. Lived for a few seconds and then slowly came to a stop. If i imidiatly tried to start again it wouldn`t start at all. If i waited a couple of minutes i would get the car running under 1000rpm for a few seconds and then coming to a stop again. When i came back from work i tried to start again but no chance at all.

Seems like the engine isn`t getting any fuel, or something like it. So was wondering if anyone in here has any suggestions? I'm not too good with cars but think it's either the fuel pump or maybe the AFM(or maybe the fuel filter? have no clue really)?

Haven't checked anything really yet, but how can i find out wich one of them it is? And does anyone have any suggestions/ideas as to what else it could be.

PS: Sorry about the crappy typos etc, but my english isn't too good since i'm from norway :P

First of all, do a paperclip test (see post in Maintenence Guides) to see if there is a sensor problem.

Fuel pump failure rare, the fuel pump relays somethings fail.
