Standard rear springs on S/L shocks
« on: 07 February 2009, 17:48:00 »

I need new springs for the back of the mig... Question is... What is the difference and has anyone fitted standard springs with the SL shocks on the back end of a saloon?

Any thoughts appreciated as this is what I'm probably going to do... I'm not paying Vx prices for springs ::) ::)

might be worth an add in the wanted section, i got a pair from sp32 for a good price. He sold them as he fitted mv6 items, maybe someone has a pair of elite springs in the garage. Dont know why it is, but have seen posts saying only Elite s/l springs can be used with sl shocks...? Hence its cheaper to fit other suspension, either stock or mv6 than a pair of elite springs. Cant be more helpfull than that mate, sorry.

out of all the 6 elites I have broke for parts, the s/l springs have been the same as the normal ones, as Ive had to replace pairs on my cars a few times now,

The S/l shocks on my elite are currently working with standard springs and there is no difference in ride quality.

i agree with vauxfan my dads elite estate is on standard springs (£40 a side from motor factors last year compared with £300 odd pound from vx for there ones)  with sl shocks it handles fine passed the mot ok and it sits at the same level it did

Thanks guys... I couldn't see much difference in the specs to be honest! Don't really want 2nd hand springs as they are a bit of an unknown! Admittedly i've got a pair of 2nd hand shocks but came from a very reliable source :y :y :y
