9' vibrator (the car)

Hi all! Got my glow plugs in and finally now starts on the button! Does any one get a vibration on tick over? it seems to be coming from the dashboard and through the seats as soon as you touch the throttle it is gone but pull up to a set of lights and the buzzing starts. it's a plastic vibration.Its not the glove box lid already checked this. more of an annoyance than anything else but trying to get my omega back to it's former glory. ;D

do you have the plastics on over the injectors? If so, try with that removed.

HI The boy! yeah tried that it is far more than an under bonnet noise it's in the cabin like the whole dashboard is reverberating sometimes it's also the electric rear blind. Would a worn engine mount do this? it must be engine related...like transferring engine vibration to the body?? :D

had this meself was driving me nuts!! the answer was to change the engine mountings!! think the one near the turbo hardens with age and transmits the vibration!! however before you do that check gearbox rear mounting rubber hasnt split and all exhaust mountings! cos they will transmit a vibration to the body as well, :y

Was what I was thinking was also thinking that one day I will buy a second car I can just drive and not worry about but that wouldn't be so much fun would it  ::) Thats what we have an audi for, service, tyres, mot and tax and that's it for the year! :y

Had the same symptoms on my first Mig. Traced the cause to the air in-take hose to the air filter box.
Surprisingly loud for what turned out to be the cause. Convinced it was coming from the dashboard.

Mine was caused by the exhaust sitting on a cross member...

Are you sure that it's not erratic idling of the engine?

yep mine is rock steady on idle never has it been rough idlig or ful bore :y

yep mine is rock steady on idle never has it been rough idlig or ful bore :y
I can confirm that Omegatoy's old bus does have a pretty sweet tractor lump up front - though saying that, I've never heard it cold...

I think I put this up before.
I nearly bought an Audi.
Total cost of extras @ 2005 prices ~  €7,500


Total spent on refurb / replacement since Feb 2004 purchase =    € 14,556

engine re-build inc timing belt

battery replaced

new steering rack

new alternator

ABS control unit refurb ( they all fail )

AMD Teknik tuning

New fan belt and spline/ pulley etc

+ servicing  


+ extra Four alloy wheels & good Pirelli P6000 tyres

( new audi alloy x1 = €350 )

( new Pirelli P6000 x1 = @200 )  


Approx value not include above costs ~11,000


Minus   i. dash pixellating ( they all do…)

ii. n/s Xenon headlight casing cracked – beam ok

iii. n/s front wing paint defect – post “robowash” car wash (never again)


Asking price €11,500 on Carzone.


Am open to offers, taking into consideration the  


~ €14,500 new parts/ fitting in last 4 years  


and the  i – iii   as below.  


Also the old td lump is smoother & quieter than any DI, even if it's not that economical.
Anyway just bought another Td.
