rattling noise
« on: 22 February 2009, 14:49:20 »

I noticed today a rattling noise (not noticeable from inside the car) from a warm engine. It used to do that only when cold but seems to have gotten worse.  :-/

Could it be the old oil change?

From where on the engine...rattling from the front could well indicate imminent tensioner or pulley failure...

It does sound like it's coming from the front. It's hard to pin-point where exactly it's coming from

Just had another look around.

The noise does seem to get louder when I pull back the cam cover a little.
Possibly a tensioner on it's way out?

Have a good look around for anything obviously loose.
Next, slip off the belts and see what happens. This way, you'll eliminate the ancilliaries. See where you go from there.
