on the later v6 engines they fitted a non adjustable bottom idler did they change postion of the bolt or will it fit on a 99 3.0 ?? got chance to buy a genuine vaux kit cheap and from the picture it looks to be a fixed idler  :-/ :-/

I seem to recall James saying that you can just re-use the old backing plate if you need to

yes i know but its the single idler near crank on the later v6 its fixed non adjustable  :-/

The fixed idler, as fitted to 2.6/3.2 is a different kit to earlier ones.

For earlier v6 (D, EB, 01), the kist are interchangable by changing blackplate, but these aren't interchangable with the fixed idler ones

It can be used, but its not ideal.

Its the same construction and size etc but, the central insert does not have an offset hole to support the adjustement.

On most engines, this adjustment ends up being in the same place once the cams are timed any wya (the 12 Oclock position) and hence why I suspect they saved a few quid during assembly by fitting a non-adjustable one in this poition.

Location on the block changed in 1998 when the later lifters and better oil pump were fitted.....it did not change after then

so it can be used then the fixed idler ? :-/
