3.2 man gearbox
« on: 25 February 2009, 10:11:44 »

O.k i`m back again twice in one week does anyone know if the filler for the gearbox has a screw type bung ofr is it a push fit plastic affair the reason i`m asking is cause i just returned home after a short drive and there was smoke everywere coming from somewere round the middle section of the exhausts holy s£$% it thought so i jacked up car and noticed loads of oil dripping from round the gearbox 1st thoughts were seals then i noticed a small ish plastic bung on the exhaust crossmember then my eyes turned to the gearbox filer hole there was nothing in it !!! so what i need to know is does the plastic cap belong there or should it have metal screw type one also does anyone know if vx are resonable for them or does anyone have one lying around that i could purchase Bear in mind this car is an ex plod one so i`m still finding silly little things that are sent to try me

Just a quick update i lay underneath and found the filler plug thats there !!! the bung i found was from the back of the gearbox on the passenger side near the top anyone know if thats right or is it missing something ive put it back in and everything seems ok going for a long drive in a bit to see what happens ive got my rope in the boot and my mate on speed dial  ;D :y

Not sure what the upper bung is for!

Both the filling bung and drain bung are metal, the drain is on the bottom side at the rear of the box and the filling bung is on the iff side half way up the box.

Isn't there a vent on top of the box  :-/ , the bung will be to stop sh1te from getting in and allow air to get out.
