Key fob question

My new car has no master key, just a transponder key and one of these fobs:

Which is shite by the way and only works now & again.

Can I reprogram the master key from my old car at the stealers? Do I need to re-order the master? How much do either/both cost roughly?

Any experts in the OOF field that do this sort of thing?

Omega's don't really have a 'Master' key as such.  Unsure about that transponder type you have, might be aftermarket fitment if the previous owner lost the key perhaps...???

You should have a 'Car Pass' (small piece of card with lots of numbers on), this will have the code needed to code in new remotes.  You can get it from VX for about £25 if you don't, all you need to take is your registration document.

vauxhalls don't use 'master keys', thats more a ford thing.

key needs to be prog'd to car with specialist equipment

Fortunately for me the interior and wallet have been well looked after, so the car pass is present. Awesomeness, cheers, TheBoy!

PaulW: yes I think theyre Timpsons specials IMHO - the cheapest I've seen around - or fleabay.

Do VX program the keys while you wait or do you need to send it off? Can I get my existing on-key fobs reprogged then and source a new blade, or will the stealers try and get me to have all new ones?

Personally, I reuse older fobs, and older keys (if they have enough metal on to be recut).

I have a fob here thats programmed to both my cars, so if we're out with friends, we can give them a fob in case they need to go back to car etc.
