Its gone again
« on: 02 March 2009, 16:53:38 »

A few weeks ago 6th Feb to be exact i posted about a small rubber pipe that was split and it sounded like a blowing exhaust.
Elite Pete replied that it could be something to do with  the secondary air injection pipes
Think Pete was right (cheers pete) as i was told its something to do with emmission recirculating or something like that ANYWAY
Got the part £5 from VX and all was o.k.
Today its gone again
So what is causing the rubber pipe to blow chaps?

I am sure I replied to the same thread pointing out that the pipe going is as a result of a fault......i.e. a blocked exhaust centre section or cat.

So what could be the cause of a "blocked" exhaust?

internal baffle tubes in one of the boxes rust out and let the glass wool wadding block the gas flow.
likely to be the rear box

If rear box, it generally does not cause a tube to blow on the air injection.

Centre or cat is the usual.

Thanks chaps
Am i right in saying that NOTHING else can cause the pipe to blow apart from a blocked exhaust?
And why is this pipe rubber? why not metal?
Is it for ease of replacement? or the fact that it WILL blow first if exhaust IS actually blocked?
