EGR valve problems
« on: 13 March 2009, 16:48:24 »

Hi    (2.2 petrol Z22XE engine )
I've been having some poor starting problems, putting the warning light on dash, but when you turn the ignition off and start the engine again the light goes out.
But when i,m driving i seem to have a flat spot , and on tickover every so often the engine seems to hunt.
I have put a code reader on the car with no codes to show, told this could be my EGR valve.
Can anyone give me any help to this problem, can i block the valve off, or just give it a clean?

thanks....   :(

You can make up a gasket to block off one port on the egr valve, alternatively some have said you can take the valve off and clean it with oven cleaner. I think the problem is when the valve is slow to respond to the ECU. I would be interested to see if it can be programmed out in the ECU with tech 2

Blanking it will not throw a fault light but disconnecting it will....

So blanking the egr valve off won't do anything to the performance?
