Oil Cooler - Losing Coolant
« on: 21 March 2009, 14:18:45 »

Hi all

Having just covered about 800 miles in my 2.5V6 CDX omega, I have had to top the coolant up (about a Jug full).

I have noticed a small amount of coolant on the edge of the oil sump, bellow the auxilary belt and also slight drips off of the geerbox housing.

My coolant in the header tank is a bit brown in colour and the oil seems a bit watery.

Could it be the oil-cooler?   I dont think it's the HBV, as I had this go on my last omega, and it does'nt seem to be in the same area, however I am not ruling this out.

Maybe the water pump?  or the Head gasket at worst, although the engine runs like a dream, no obvious loss of power (just a noisey tappet, which I hope will be down to the watery oil).  The coolant is'nt streaming out, so it's hard to see exactly where it's coming from.

Any opinions appreciated (before I start stripping it down).. Thanks everyone.  Is there any thing else that it may be?
