Occasional Misfire
« on: 30 March 2009, 10:03:38 »

When driving, i can feel the engine very occasionally misses, like a heartbeat, It has a new HG, breathers are clear, new genuine cam sensor. Any ideas/suggestions where is hould start looking for the cause of this.
It's a 4 pot DBW 2.2 the Z22XE engine

Leads/plugs ?
I found that knackered leads (mainly caused by leaking cam cover gasket....) caused my occasional miss...

would suggest pulling the coil pac check for cracks and check rubber boots for splits

would double ceck with a code reader for missfire codes before buying a new coil pac though. the boots can be replaced seperately im told.

Doesn't the pack connect to the plugs via leads ?  :o

No it has spring looking bits of metal inside rubber boots.
Incidentally if i do see misfire in the logs would it be prudent to change the coil pack after checking the rubber boots??

Think we have a result here guys, damned EGR valve, going to give it a blast with oven cleaner.
Is it worth me taking photos of this or do we have that already done??
