If you can't borrow one, Autovaux will rent one to you for a tenner or so.   They are also reasonable as a source of kit, waterpump (they are all the same for Omega's) etc.

Cambelt kit complete from Vx dealer is pretty expensive unless you have a trade card, but I have bought mine from ebay  I did make sure however that they were Gates Powergrip kits as think they supply them to vx anyway & alot cheaper on ebay depending on what engine number yours is you should find one that is the correct model eg ones here

If you are prepared to pick it up and drop it off afterwards, I have a camlock kit here (Brackley - 10m from Towcester) you can borrow.

Bit of a no brainer really - Contitech kit £55, Gates kit over £80.  Which would you buy??

I've used the Contitech kits (bought 2 of them) and they are good quality.  Both of mine were actually marked GM.

If there was any doubt as to which kit was best ... I would buy the expensive one .. its only £30 difference, and will do 40,000 miles/4 years .. now that is £7.50 a year extra .. or 0.075 p/mile extra ... an expense I think worthwhile given the costs if the belt/tensioners fail !!!

Both Gates & Contitech are well respected belt suppliers and both supply Vx OEM parts.  So no difference in quality (both supply tensioners with SKF bearings) - just £30 in price (dependant on where you source them!!)

Noted a Gates kit went for £50 on ebay very recently - thats a better bargain than the Contitech!  Would you buy the Contitech for £55 as that Gates kit was only £50???
