Have a look at this diagram for details of the suspension level sensors found on nearside front and rear suspension.

Check that item 13 has not popped off...........

Part numbers for reference..................

Check if one or both headlights are dropping to it's lowest position, if only one then you probably have a faulty headlamp motor, pics below.......

This is the motor which is a bayonet fit..........

This is where it is located on the rear of the headlight

And it just twists and pulls out  :y

Worst case scenario, the adjusters broken...

if your having trouble diagnosing this you may need a tech 2 diagnostic to pin point the fault. See The Boy on here or Marks Dtm for this.

In the mean time turn the steering full lock to the right and have a look in the wheel arch between the front passenger side road wheel and the door. Look in, you may need a torch, to the wishbone/suspension arm. You will see the parts in the diagram above, if the ball joint has popped out of the sensor it will be hanging down loose, grease the sensor hole and pop it back in firmly, hopefulyw it will stay in long enough to pass the mot, if it pops out again later and the warning comes back you will need a new sensor for 50odd quid from vx part dept. They had to order mine in which tool a couple of days.
There is another sensor on the rear suspension arm, again look in between wheel and door side of the wheel arch for a hanging ball joint.

If the sensors look ok it may mean that the head light motor on one light is not responding, but youll be unlucky if both have failed at the same time. The likelyhood is that if one light is low then its the motor in the head light, if both are low then its one of the suspension sensors popped off and both lights have defaulted to the lowest position to stop you blinding everyone. Hth

Ps take a pic of what you find in the wheel arch and post it up. Someone will help.

Heres a pic to help you see what you are looking for.

Hi,

I've got a similar problem.  How did they adjust the lights manually?

I had same problem - had the lowbeam/fld vision warning - bought a pair of sensors on e-bay from someone who swore his were working - when I fitted them the warning was still there - checked the car on tech2 and ir still showed a fault on the rear sensor - waiting for a replacement to arrive from Looknee which I will check before I fit.  Moral is that secondhand don't always work.
