weight a minute
« on: 06 April 2009, 07:45:57 »

when i was getting a hand pushing my exceptionally heavy miggy the other day a casual passer by lent a hand and remarked;-

"this is heavy! is it an auto?"

so my question is, what is the weight difference between a saloon v6 auto and a saloon v6 manual? :-? :-? :-?

For the last Omega model (e.g. 2002, 2003) the numbers for Kerbweight (in Kg's) are

1631 (2180) - 2.6 MV6 Saloon Manual
1651 (2190) - 2.6 MV6 Saloon Auto
1675 (2185) - 2.6 Elite Saloon Manual
1695 (2195) - 2.6 Elite Saloon Auto
1656 (2195) - 3.2 MV6 Saloon Auto
1700 (2200) - 3.2 Elite Saloon Auto

1679 (2290) - 2.6 MV6 Estate Manual
1679 (2300) - 2.6 MV6 Estate Auto
1723 (2330) - 2.6 Elite Estate Manual
1723 (2340) - 2.6 Elite Estate Auto
1679 (2305) - 3.2 MV6 Estate Auto
1723 (2345) - 3.2 Elite Estate Auto

This is from the brochure and it does raise some intersting questions for those that like detail ... The Sallon numbers look sensible but why are all estates except MV6 the same.

The numbers in brackets are the Gross Vehicle Weight = max weight of car once you have filled it up with bodies and other such stuff.

Surprised its so little.

Given that the box is about 15Kg more, it has 8Kg more fluid plus an ECU and loom etc.

I guess the flywheel is lighter but, the torque converter would mroe than make up for that.

Hmmm...maybe 20Kg is about right then
