How do I tell which one is which?

Martin,
The cams have a pair of thrust faces either side of the front bearing, look at the periphery of the rear thrust face and you should see engraved a letter and batch number. The letter lines up with the table posted above.

So you want two 'A' cams for the exhausts
and two 'G' cams for the inlets.

The only engines I saw were 2.5's!

The letter/number is engraved on the edge near the end i.e. G7  :y
