Changing my brakes
« on: 24 April 2009, 19:05:12 »

Got a good deal on new discs and new pads all around for my MV6 Facelift 3.0 V6 Omega.

£93, not bad, so i'm going to do them tomorrow.

Its not a hard job, i've seen a guide for this somewhere but can't remember where, my only question was... what type of screw holds the disc on and what type of tool do I need to remove it. I've had the wheel off before but have never looked, is it a flat head or alan key?

Ta. :D

Hope you bought genuine Vx front discs and pads - if not they won't last and will judder under braking!

Think IIRC bolt is a torx - you need male torx.  If its not its allen key (hex)

Wouldn't bank on it mate :-?  Rears don't seem so critical so pattern tend to be ok.

I've only ever used genuine Vx, bought using trade card. Excellent value IMHO.

TC prices :

Omega                                    Part Number        Retail Price        Normal Trade        Trade Club
Brake disc & pad kits, front (axle set)
All models exc. 2.0 to '97               93175466            £103.00                  £85.03            £75.74

2.0 to '97                                        93175467         £105.00                   £86.68          £75.74

Add VAT to those prices mind .. :)

retaining bolt is allen. Upon refitting, it only needs to be done up loosely, around 4Nm.  Any more, and its a pig to get off next time.

I've had no luck with budget pattern discs, threw them out in the end, put genuine on.
