Male Menopause, My Omega & Help Required
« on: 02 May 2009, 15:12:12 »

I think I must be going through the male menopause.

Normally I buy a car for about 3 grand and then run it into the ground.

However I've decided - prompted by the superb support offered on this site - to start learning about how my car works and to do all the little jobs myself that are normally either ignored or done by the garage at the next service in the hope of returning it to its former glory and keeping it for quite a bit longer than normal.

To do this I need to know how the car works. I visited the Haynes site only to find there doesn't appear to be a manual for my car. I've already seen that there is a maintenance section on the forum which I know will be helpful in the future but I'm wondering if I can buy a workshop manual or similar that will help?

Its been 30 years since I qualified as a Mechanical Engineer but I haven't used those skills for about 25 years (I run a website business now!) - any direction, help or advice would be most grateful.

By the way I have a 2000 Omega 2.5 24V Elite Auto

Gareth :)

On the whole the facelift 2.5 will be the same as the pre faqcelift manual...certainly mechanics are the same...same engine, same gearbox...same doors, same front wings, same seats (as late 97 on anyway) and so on...

Forum is your best point of reference imho. The haynes (book of lies) is usefull even though they dont cover the face lift, as said.

Start a new thread for each issue in turn. With as clear and relevant heading as possible to get best replys. Dont just put "Help me" or similar, give people a clue on the subject and weather they have the relevant experience. Hth.
