vibration
« on: 13 May 2009, 13:42:52 »

The V6 is running well but when I use light throttle or the engine is on the overrun there is a vibration.
It is not on the steering wheel or gear selector but I feel it via the seat.
I have check the wheel balance both back and front and that's ok.
One suggestion is that it's the rear gearbox rubber mount failed.
The vibration is not engine rpm related but appears at around 40 to 50mph in top gear, if I am accelerating I don't feel any vibration.

I there are no engine codes when I do the paperclip test

any ideas

if wheels are balanced ok then more than likely a propshaft related problem, either the prop needs balancing, or excessive play in a UJ/mount

I had a vibration at about 50mph onward, thought it was the wheels. But I found the problem at MOT, It was the Steering idler arm. I have changed it and got MOT and no more vibration. ( it was a sod to get off ) might be worth having a look.
