engine dies at 3500rpm

Hi got trouble with my 2.5, as soon as i get the engine reving up to 3500 rpm it shuts down. No engine management light, Engine management light comes on if continued to hold revs at 3500rpm.  :'(

do a paper clip test and see what codes you get back  :y

You dont need diag kit....short out pins 4 and 6 in the diag connector and count the ecu flashes

I can tell you now its the CS sensor. you'll get code 19. my car did exactly the same thing. ( look for the thred "loss of power by 3500 rpm" )  at 3500 rpm it starts to stutter / cut out.  :y

Or a blocked fuel filter.....seen that one a fair few times to

I had a problem on my previous omega V6.  When it got to a certain RPM (Can't remember what RPM, but it was above 3500 I think), it would not go any further, or change in to the next gear.

It did not cut out - just would'nt rev past that point.

It turned out to be the EGR valve at fault.

There was no engine management light on.

I would follow the advice from other members first as I am only stating my experience.

I think the EGR can be disconnected to test for this problem, but don't take my word for it.

You were correct code 19 came up after paper clip test; thanks Mark.

Thanks to all did paper clip test and the only code was 19, now all i need to do is get a new crank sensor.
