Car vibrates/pulls to the left
« on: 14 June 2009, 09:24:33 »

Hi all lately my car has been vibrateing when going 80mph or more.I took the car back to the garage that fitted the rear tyre as it only started happening when i got the new tyre fitted. They said the the weight on the inside of the wheel had came off so they redid the wheel for me.On the way home down the motor way it came back again.Got the tracking done too as the car was pulling to the left and it much better then it was but still pulls to the left slightly does anyone have a clue what they both can be

always seems to be tyres on ours either balance, tracking the pulling to one side might even be tyre pressure Omegas do seem to be sensitive on the front end adjustments :)

re wheel balance try a 5 stud balancer as opposed to the easier to use but less accurate cone balancer. You will need to find a garage that has one, not all do.

Re tracking, waist of time in all honesty. You can have spot on tracking and the car will still pull and wear your tires unevenly and prematurely at extra cost. Not saying this will happen your in case but that the only real way to set the car up is with a full
Geomety set up.

Its no coincidence that wheels in motion have all there facilitys available. Mention the forum for a discount, iirc its about 60 sobs plus expensis.

Edit to add that quite often its camber that needs setting correctly, your average car place has no idea how to set this correcty or how to adjust the rear end which can also make the car pull.

All true, anyone think a swap-round of tyres might be worth a try? A mate found a close-to bald tyre next to a near-new tyre (thus a larger rolling radius) was causing a slight pull. He's going to get, as already said above, a full geometry set-up, but tracking is still only the tweaking a nut, so a good 1st port of call.

Though Omegas are known for chewing tyres on the rear, if not set up properley, am I correct?

The old bloke I use for getting tyres balanced etc says that if you get steering wobble under 60mph its front wheel balance, over 60mph rear wheel balance.
Check for misshape of the tyre I had a tyre once that did  :o
Do you have a slightly buckled wheel?
As the pulling to the left, are your brakes binding? have you checked your brakes?
Is the pressure low in that particular tyre? :y
