Where can I get rear springs for self levelling...
« on: 18 June 2009, 18:27:40 »

Hi all,

My car failed it's MOT today on a broken rear spring, I thought I would have a go at replacing both the rear springs this weekend but all my local motor factors say that the springs for my 3.2 Elite saloon are dealer only due to the self-levelling suspension, surely there can't be such a difference that no after market springs are available?

Regards

Ring ZF Trading on 01788822855 Part number should be checked against your vehicle reg - for self levelling it is part no. 25-E49-0.

You can also google KYB springs but as I bought from ZF can't comment on them except that I hear KYB are cheaper.

Thanks for the info Pscocoa, tried both companies and they only deal with distributers, tried that route as well but can't get the springs until next weekend.

Also tried my local dealer and was quoted £350 + Vat for 2 rear springs!!!!!

I have been quoted £200 by the MOT station to supply and fit 2 new rear springs but I am now dubious if they are going to fit the correct ones.

chances are they will not fit the right parts - anyway they are dead easy to fit.

Give sutton autofactors a call on Monday - sorry cant find their number.  tell them exactly what you want from the KYB catalogue and they'll post to you.

Or do as I have and fit "Standard" springs... The only difference we could determine is the compression rate and TBH you won't really notice the difference... In fact I think it has stiffened the rear end slightly :y :y :y
