Water leak

Help anyone i have sprung a water leak any suggestions on where to look it appears to be coming from the back of the engine and to give you a idea if i fill up with water it just drains out at the back.

Sounds like it could be the HBV (Heater Bypass Valve), a common Omega problem. It is the black plastic unit with pipes going in and out of it that sits just behind the engine bank on the drivers side. :( :(    

EDIT: Whoops! Just realised you have a stright four pot, but I think you will still have an HBV that could be leaking! ::) ::) ;)

yes they are a little steep imho. Esp considering how unreliable they are generally. But it is the only worthwhile fix. Ie dont bodge it and dont fit pattern.

..........and just mind your knuckles Bluehawk when fitting the new one! :D :D ;)  On the V6 you need to remove the wipers / wiper scuttle, but I don't know if you will have to on the 2.2 ::) ::) ;) ;)

i could possibly get away without removing scuttle but i have removed it to give me more room as it not worth risking breaking anything else in cramped conditions.

Also removed water tank and  disonnected and moved out of the way the brake vac pipe as it looks like this is lower down on a 2.2 comapred to a v6 engine and did not want to snap pipes
