When the engine is hot and turned on it sometimes makes a crakinng metal sound. This happens only if the engine is hot and never when it is cold.
I have had this problem for some time now, the mechanic says its the egr valve. He says the valve maybe stays open when the car turns off, and then abruplty closes when the car is turned back on and this causes the cranking sound.
Another idea I've heard is that it could possibly be the catalysator system.
Also looks like camshaft sensor isn't working (engine management light turns on occasionally also only when the engine is hot) This happens maybe once a week. I've connected the car to pc with "My Naff Code Reader" and it reported camshaft sensor. Bought a replacement part ( not originall) and when inserted car worked like a tractor. Whole hell broke loose, and "My Naff Code Reader" reported egr, camshaft and a few other errors. So put a old part back in but the problem I mentioned before still happens.
so these are my questions....
The egr for 2.2 petrol does anyone have it and willing to sell it?
Is it the same for 2.5 or 2.6 engines cause I've read somewhere that this could be the same one?
Somebody has a spare Camshaft sensor and willing to sell it for a reasonable price?
