Getting worried about my Air Con compressor
« on: 04 July 2009, 15:21:14 »

Its always been a bit 'tappy' sounding when the A/C is on since I got it almost 18 months ago, so I only used it when it was needed.

I turned it on every few weeks to circulate the gasses and oils etc as recommended, and its always worked perfectly...

It still does work perfectly, I’ve got ICE cold air within seconds, however the 'tapping' is now starting to worry me. :-[

Is it worth putting more oil in the A/C system? Or is it past it and the pump is on its last legs? :-/

Basically, I can cope with the pump failing, however I’m worried that if the compressor seizes somehow, and rips the belt off, I’m going to be left with a V6 with no running water pump, and no PAS.  :-/ :o

What should I do, or is the tappy noises normal?

Would get it re-gassed, the oil's carried round the system by the gas, You can't really add more oil, you'll never know how much is in the system and too much it bad, worse than not enough.
