Omega starting issue
« on: 12 August 2009, 09:29:27 »

Can someone advise me on the issue described below?

When starting up my vauxhall omega in the morning it doesnt sound right, its really loud and there seems to be a inconsistency where it feels like the engine will cut out, once its warmed up its fine, although the performance doesnt seem to be great.  The noise seems to be like a tinkering noise from the engine somewhere but disappears once its warmed up?

I had the EML on a while ago and brough a lamda sensor from the vauxhall dealer, the EML light no longer appears im not sure if that was related to the current issue.

You could do with getting the codes read and cleared to be sure but I'll bet it's connected to the MAF. The 2.2 I have coughs and splutters until it's warm and the MAF is the only thing I haven't changed ;D

Thanks for your prompt reply

Does the code need clearing down because i dont have the EML on at the moment?

I will also have a go at replacing the MAF and will let you know how i get on, do you know where i can get a genuine part without the the cost of an arm and a leg from vauxhall dealership? :)

Thanks,

Clearing the codes will just make future diagnosis easier, as it will still hold the old codes for a while so a clear and re-read will only show current codes.

Try eGay for a replacement MAF, there's a few suppliers on there. They cost around £30 plus P&P :y

Where abouts are you?

Bit far for me or I'd have cleared and read your codes for you :(
