Hi,I'm a "newbie". ECU light is on my dash,3.0 Elite 98R,and after diagnostic Knock sensor Bank 1 came up. Does anyone know how much labour involved and what side is Bank 1 looking from front of car? Any advise is much appreciated.   Regards Golly.

Hello Golly. The 1-3-5 bank is on the left looking from the front of the car. The knock sensor is down by the alternator if I remember correctly. The wire for it is routed along the top of the left hand cam cover and, if this has been off lately, it's a safe bet that the wire has been trapped/broken underneath it. Not a big job, just a bit fiddly.

If it is the knock sensor at fault, you will get a big power reduction at about 4000 revs, and the engine will feel as though it is misfiring.

As STM says. Other thing to check is the cable hasn't caught/rubbed on aux belt.
