International Money Laundering
« on: 27 September 2006, 19:13:18 »

Does anyone know any thing about this?  You know, maybe a 'friend'. ;)

My parents have a rental property in Florida.  They keep getting rental requests over the Internet where someone supposedly from the UK wants to rent the property, but they want to have someone else send a banker's draft from inside the US for more than the deposit.  They then want to be paid the remainder by us.  Then I suspect that they will want their deposit back too.  When we tell them that the deposit is non-refundable we never hear from them again.

Is this well known over here?

Ye olde scam. Dont even communicate with them!

EDIT: If you were to go with this and send them the surplus by cheque, they would also have your name, sort code and account number.

I don't suppose that there is anywhere to report this stuff?  What about Yahoo if they use Yahoo accounts?
