Heater problem

I have a problem with my heater, its a 98 R reg 2,5 cdx the display shows   --   when i turn it off, it will not blow on the windscreen and the temp is just a bit higher than cold, does anyone have an idea where I can look to solve this problem?

Have you tried resetting it by pressing the off and auto buttons together for about 5 seconds with ignition on but engine off :y.

The - - means the climate panel has detected a fault, Tech2 or similar will tell you what it's unhappy about.
