Auto Gearbox display
« on: 28 September 2009, 18:38:07 »

Hi All.......New Omega Owner new to the Forum.

Could anyone help me out please with a problem i've started having with the gear indicator lights next to the gear lever.
When i put the thing into Drive all the lights come on (intermitantly) from P down to 1 ? The car still drives ok,etc.

I had a diagnostic done which shows NO fault with the gearbox but the Vauxhall technician told me it's probably a faulty selector which will cost around £700 ?

Seeing as he had a smile on his face i think he may be pulling a flanker ? Is this common on Auto's & could it be something as simple as a loose wire ?

My knowledge of cars is limited.

Definitely gearbox selecter switch by sound of it. If cleaning doesn't cure, it try asking if any members on here have a spare in the Parts Wanted/For Sale section. :y

Thanks for your help Fella's.

I've now found a man who's going to sort it out for me at the weekend. He agreed with what you've said and told me he can do it for £25.    :-*
