LPG Mapping - getting closer!
« on: 07 December 2007, 22:58:10 »

Well, after completely losing its settings and almost refusing to drive on LPG again, I have made some good progress today.

I took out the inverter, and laptop, and went for a drive! It's not 100% perfect, but deflection is less than 5% - and anything up to 10% is acceptable.

It involves making tiny tweaks, then driving a while and watching the map graph plotting, and then making more tweaks.

Since doing this tonight, I've sorted the issue. I've lost the hesitation, and she's pulling like a rocket through all the gears on LPG, smoothly. Phew!

I know I've got a little way to go to get it perfect, but here is the current progress. Bear in mind - these lines were an inch apart before I started! Now they're almost on top of each other. The Green one is the LPG map, the blue one is the map on petrol. You need to get the LPG one as close as possible to the blue one...

Can you do a screen dump of yours sometime?

How is yours running on gas?

Does the software allow you to make a backup of the map so you can upload it again if the ECU loses it?

mine pulls like a train, aside from when you pull away from idle.....

I know one of the cats is rattling like mad, i have bought a set off markey mark to replace the ones i have killed.

when it is on partial throttle it has a tendancy to stutter i had a car once that ran webbers that did this, it was running slightly too rich and so use the stutter, but the lambda should sort that out i would have thought

Agreed, I can't get it to load in a map either, it's a royal pain where it hurts!

Perhaps the manufacturer could add the function in the future if enough requests are made? It obviously displays (hence reads) the ECU data and it obviously can write because you are making changes... cant be too much of a tweak for them to implement.

i think we are dealing with a 3rd party supplier who may not have the clout to be able to request this, i will however speak to them next week and ask, as you say it will have a benefit

Looking good, James :y

I think the difference between that and what we ended up with is that it wasn't curving down again at higher durations. Makes me think the misfire was down to it going a bit rich under heavy load :-/

It'd be worth just checking that, on full throttle acceleration, the Lambdas both go high (0.8v or so) and stay there until you lift off, just to make sure it's not going lean.

It's a right PITA that the loading of a map doesn't appear to work.

I noticed there is some firmware for the ECU with that software. Might be worth flashing it if there's a later version that what you have to see if that fixes it. It might mean you lose the map though :-/ but I guess with a screen shot you can recreate it easily.
