I hae had the same problem on mine for ages, I hae searched time and time again to try to locate it, as of yet, I haven't...

I tend to find the oil pools by number 1 injector as well...

If you work out what it is, please let me know...
As already said, give the engine a good cleaning first.
As long as you don't have a leak from the cam cover joint, then it's highly likely that the viscous is blowing oil around here, and it's accumulating in the injector recess.

My oil leak on the nearside was one of the pipes leading to the oil cooler. It had corroded and was seeping oil which then blew back over the engine. As the oil is under pressure in these pipes, had it decided to burst it would have been goodbye engine, as it was it just made horrible stains on the driveway.
Check its not coming from here.
PS if it is the problem, new pipes are very expensive & if like me you have an earlier version (there were 2 different arrangements) they are no longer available from Vauxhall & you have to buy a complete assembly of 2 sets of pipes & all of the associated brackets of the later type. I have diagrams of both sorts if you want to PM me with an e-mail address so that I can send them to you.

* The tube which connects the EGR valve to the boost sensor (on nearside inner wing) has detached

What does this actually do ? mine seems to be disconnected on purpose !  ;)
