were the two pipes come off the end of the plenum they drop down into a tank thingy (dont know technical name) i have seen some miggy`s on here with nice alloy tanks that then go to the air filter housing via a pipe 2 things

1, what is this part and what does it do

2, is there a advantage to changing it for one of these alloy jobbies and were do you get them from ???

I think you are talking about resonator boxes.

They bypass the multiram ducting to allegedly give better airflow into the engine and therefore more power.

There's a chance that it could marginally improve top end power, but almost certainly at the expense of low-rpm torque, which requires a decent length of intake tract. As a heavy car, the Omega needs the low-rpm torque, though, in my book.
