Missfire on startup
« on: 31 October 2009, 19:46:11 »

My 2.2 CDX has developed a wicked misfire on startup.
Problem goes away after about a minute of running.
Once warm in runs like a champ.
No loss of coolant, so I don't think it's the head gasket porblem.

Any ideas?

needs codes read, as your other thread. Various causes, if a true missfire i would pull the coil pack and check for signs of oil in plug wells or damage to the pac itself(cracks in the plastic) or rubber boots ( splits in the rubber) Check/change the plugs. Cheapest from vx.

But with the fact your emissions light is on, as your other post, maybe just rough running caused by cam sensor or throttle body needs a clean.

Is there a breather issue on the 2.2? Cant remember.

Anyway, i would nip to Alton and let Kevin Wood read the codes. I'm sure he'll give the car a once over for health and updates while your there.
Drop him a pm. Cheapo tech 2 wont be as thorough as the real thing with a decent operator. :-) but probably wise to have a code reader of some sort for that model.

I've changed the plugs on the basis that it was cheap and needed doing, but no luck. Coil pack looked fine, but who knows.

Plan is a modestly priced code reader and then see what clues I get from that.

Will post the outcome. :)
