Parts/tools needed for winter trip
« on: 10 November 2009, 13:26:07 »

I am shortly going on a planned 3000 mile trip around Europe to Poland and would appreciate comments on any modifications advised, parts and tools needed.

Car has had mega overhaul throughout:-all fluids including brake/ATF/coolant/oil/filters etc, new 3 part exhaust, new discs/pads, rocker cover gasket, major service, VX software updates, tyres, tracking, balancing, new headlights/high power bulbs/adjustment, new keys/batteries, all missing and broken parts replaced throughout.
Going to OOF member this weekend to fit new header tank (minor crack), cat replacement (clanking), ATF change (due), exhaust manifold gasket (as precaution) etc etc

I have got the necessary EU reg stuff, bulbs, fluoro, first aid, fire ext, docs etc etc as always.

Searching for a battery jacket-pm if have one for sale!

Will take large tool kit, spare fluids etc

Do I need to take any parts like cam sensor or anything else hard to get?

Any other pre-trip works recommended?  Coolant done and very strong.  Battery cover will be fitted once sourced.  Looking for snow chains/poss winter tyres.

Any other advice?  :-?

OOF has been VERY good in getting me ready, thanks all  :y :y :y :y :y
