My 2.5 has decided that I need to spend some money on it again,it(I call it IT ) refused to start this morning,when I should have been 30 miles away in 45 minutes,but another story,The AA turn up in under a hour, but failed to fix.
He seemed to think thats its the crankshaft sensor,as the rev counter was not moving during cranking.His computer would not talk to my cars puter.
Any help on the best source of parts,and replacement would be very helpful.

do a paperclip test, bet you get a code 19. So much for the AA's computer, a paperclip is better 

Source a geniune sensor from Vx dealer

Problemsorted now,not cheap but the car seems to havea lot more go than it did before.

The Rac would not believe me either on thursday when i told him the paperclip test told me it was code 19.....He insisted on using his computer only for it not to work!!! or even power up.... ah well it got done after much fretting....

It will probably be a code 19. Motto of the story is this - AA and RAC equipment is only as good as the person using it. Their equipment is up to date so it leaves only one conclusion.  I am now a very happy member of the Green Flag and they have never let me down. They are cheaper too and tend to arrive a hell of a lot quicker.
Think about it, why could they not get a reading? A fancy uniform and van don't mean they are any use.

The RAC bloke who visited my Mig the other day told me that there equipment is updated to cover the newer fleet cars, only when they update for the new, they tend to loose the older cars which are more likely to require a visit by the recovery people...

Green Flag were great for me, until they left me stranded in Wales after a particular visit to my old Vectra...   They Tow Started me, told me that'll be fine, buggered off before I had even got back to my car, which promptly died as I closed the drivers door....   At least I was uphill from civilaation, I just rolled the car backwards down 1.5 miles of twisty Welsh hill roads... lol...

Some years ago I called the RAC for some reason. The guy couldn't fix it in a few mins so called in and was talked through it by an "expert" at HQ. It got the problem sorted - but cant be very good for workforce morale ......
