Fitting Rear Electric Windows
« on: 18 December 2009, 22:10:58 »

Hi Folks,

How difficult it is to retro-fit leccy rear windows to my Mig?

Looked on here for a "How To", but couldn't find anything  :-[

What would I be looking at cost-wise for the bits needed?  Is it an easy-ish job?

Cheers  :y

your car depending on trim spec may have the correct loom in the door for retro fitting of leccy windows, most above gls should be ok but you will need to check. You will need the window/motor  regulators for both doors, and the electric window switches for the rear doors and the front centre consul, you will also need the rear door cards as the ones that you have will have the holes for the window winder. the regulator is rivited to the door so new rivits are needed and as prev said you might need the loom. It is virtually plug and play..

Yes mate, if the loom is good you will find  some connectors  tapped up and out of the way , onw for the window motor , one for he window switch and one for the rear window demister fan/blower. if none of these then you need to find an elite and take all the parts from it to swap to yours. the hardest thin to do is to get the large connector plug out of the bottom of the b piller and then disconnecting the old loom and reconnecting the new loom without letting it ping back into the piller. if this happens then you need to fish it out again with a stiff piece of wire, i know i did it myself. ::)

Rear window demister?!  Not even seen any slots for than on mine?!

Jeez, this is sounding like it's gonna end up being a big job... generally, when I end up starting a job on a car, if it can go wrong, it will!!  :-[

You won't have the window demisters as your car is the newer version.

The door cards for electric windows are different so you'll have to find those too. And the control panel to the drivers door.
