OT veccy problem

hi all wonder if anybody can help with this little problem. friend that owns a fishing tackle shop over the road from ours has a eml light up, i done the paperclip test and it came up as 10-10-3-4 am i correct in assuming that would translate as 0034??? he has the 2L ohc engine, im not sure what this code equates to in my quick search i have found 34 = MAP sensor low voltage but im not 100% if it is the correct code.

i was thinking of getting one of those scanner things off ebay, but decided not to as i dont have a lappy with a com port.

any ideas

Not heard of a 0034 (Doesn't mean there isn't one though).

Are you sure you haven't gone 1 digit out of sequence?
If you have, then you would have 0340, which means
Cam Sensor (Quite a common problem).

See if the car is rev limiting when the light is on. I Can't remember
if a Cam Sensor will limit it you to 4000 or 4500. Someone on here
will remember.

ok thanks peeps possibly read it wrong, he was in a bit of a rush at the time, i may well see if i can find a cheapo hand held unit to read the codes, other than that does anybody know of any readers that use usb or can be used with a usb to serial adapter
or even a pcmcia serial card

i do have my pda which i have a serial cable for, guess i could use that and one of those readers, but not sure if i would get software for it.

anybody got any experiance of this?
