Something my mate said earlier as a passing comment, didn't think much of it at the time but as the nights drawn on and the beer has kicked in its got me thinking. Am I an old man in disguise?

We're both 25 and went to school together but alot has happened this year:

I'm engaged with my own house and he is single and lives at home with his parents, but it started off with a comment about me having an old mans car! I resented that seen as how he drives a Civic Type R. I keep telling him buy a proper lawn mower but he won't listen.

Then I thought, hang on I'm 25. I prefer bitter to alchopops, prefer Virgin radio to Radio 1, can't stand XFactor or Big Brother and could listen to The Rolling Stones all day but would shoot myself in the head if I had to listen to more than 3 seconds of Mika!!
I could have cried when he said he had never even heard of Lynyrd Skynyrd!

Am I old or is he jealous or have I just far too much time on my hands? :-?

Hmmm your mate drives a honda civic, and he thinks your old. Is there any other car which says OLD MAN like a honda civic, I don't think so.
Look at the Omega's roots before Omega it was Carlton etc.
Look at the civic's roots before civic was um ah oh civic.
Ok so they put a R badge on it and make it a bit quicker, but it is still a "dependable old honda" which is what my grandad used to say about his Morris Oxford.
The japs may make a reliable car, but they are so utterly boring and bland.

Rant over

Mike

Maybe built there, but who designed it, let's be honest it is a run of the mill little hatchback, the same as all the others. OK  with the R type it goes a bit quicker, so what it looks like what it is, a grandad car.
I am well aware the japs no how to make a car move, superpoo (subaru) and evils (evo) etc.
But at the end of they day they all look awful.
If you see an old Lotus Carlton or even GSi 3000 Carlton you no it. If you see a honda r type you have to look really close to make out the badge. just like the golf gti, in 1978 a golf gti looked really different to a normal golf, now they look identical apart from the badge.
