Is throat clearance the same as valve stem length? :-/

You talking about the valve spring compressor?  ;)
The throat is whether you can get the threaded bit & te tube bit on either ends of the valve without the cylinder head fouling against the main frame of the spring compressor

ie how wide is it? .... ooooeeer!  ::)  :y  :y

Thanks Andy. My mate brought the compressor round for me to have a look at today and it seems that it will go on both ends of the valve without fouling. :y
