Gents – need to fit the new crank sensor shortly but am a bit confused as to the best place to route it (or tie it to) to avoid heat issues down the line.

I’ve seen conflicting posts about where to route it (use same route vs DON’T’ use same route) – and was hoping I could get some clearer pointers on this. Certainly don’t want the wire melting within a few days of install….

The way I see it – the length of the cable is relatively short – so I’m guessing I’ll have quite limited options as to where to pass it through or tie it to…. Understood that I won't be able to remove the old sensor.

It's long enough to run it up the inner wing/bulkhead and tie it to the brake pipes

Seem to remember a howto, or at least a good description + photos of new routing.  May be wrong though  :-/

Really? I'll take your word for it - but it's only about 2ft and a bit long....

Haven't seen a how2 for the routing - would be very helpful...

Thank you - yip - clocked that guide. 

Still unsure as to how that 2ft bit of cable can stretch across to the passenger inner wing, get tied, allow for some slack, then across the main cable try on passenger cylinder bank and into the plug.... 

Must be the Tardis of all cables!

Yes, I was wondering the same thing, I did as you describe but the bottom half of the wire still runs perilously close to the exhaust manifold and there ain't much slack for movement. Cable needs to be about 4 inches longer IMO

Pop the lid off the cable tray above the 2-4-6 bank and make a notch in the side (lower half) about half way along.

Find the main loom wire for the crank sensor  and un-pick it from the loom back to the point where the notch is (rip the fabric tape holding the bundle together).....pass the cable out through the notch.

You should find that the connector will sit around where the bonnet release cable passes

Its a bit more restricted on the 2.6/3.2 but, not much more involved.
