DIS Pack = Done. Hands = bleeding
« on: 13 February 2010, 17:10:13 »

Hi all,

Well, you guys weren't kidding when you said it was a F*&Łer of a job!

Wipers off, scuttle off, plenum off, try to relocate DIS pack to realise that leads won't reach!

Eventually got the old one out, have replaced it with just two of the four bolts to make replacement easier - it's not going anywhere!

Part-cleaned out the plenum and will do some more soon, but it was filthy dirty and my breathers were blocked with mayo, despite the garage charging me for cleaning them out.  Grr.

Anyway, the car runs nicely now - will wait to see if it yields better MPG as a result, but I can tell you, that's a job I don't fancy doing again soon!

Lastly, can anyone tell me, where the EGR mounts to the plenum (via the three bolts that are obscured by the throttle cable holder), should there be a gasket there?  Mine didn't have one and it looks rather like it should.

Cheers,
James

There should be a thin steel gasket dude. :y

Replacing the dispack is a idiot of a job, and I think whoever let that get into production want's beating with sticks....
If you want to relocate it like I'm going to, then you'll need Vectra/Cavalier/Calibra V6 HT leads and the LT wires might need extending.
On the FWD cars, there's a nice little bracket that the dispack mounts to aswell.....
